Description
2006 TOPPS STERLING “HIT #1” ROBERTO CLEMENTE GAME USED BAT AND 3 JERSEY PIECES AUTOGRAPH #‘D 1/1Never seen before! This is the 1st Clemente 1/1 ever produced by TOPPS (thus "Hit 1"). With PERFECT signature on a picture of his left shoulder - VERY COOL. And NO blockage of it - EXTREMELY hard to find!!! As a reference, a recent 1/1 of his sold for $3950 (item 130238904422). And that card did NOT have any GU pieces! Simply AWESOME!! Roberto Clemente Born: August 18, 1934, Carolina, Puerto Rico Died: December 31, 1972, San Juan, P.R. Bats: R Throws: R Played for: Pittsburgh Pirates (1955-1972) Elected to Hall of Fame by Baseball Writers: 1973 393 votes of 424 ballots cast (92.69%) View Hitting Stats AVGGABRHHRRBISBSLG .3172433945414163000240130583.475 BiographyRoberto Clemente Walker's pride and humanitarianism won him universal admiration. Despite an unorthodox batting style, the Pirates' great won four batting crowns and amassed 3,000 hits. He was equally brilliant in right field, where he displayed a precise and powerful arm. Clemente earned National League MVP honors in 1966, but achieved his greatest fame in the 1971 World Series, when he batted .414. Tragically, Clemente's life ended at age 38 - the victim of a plane crash while flying relief supplies to Nicaraguan earthquake victims.Quotes“Some right fielders have rifles for arms, but he had a howitzer.” — Tim McCarver THANKS FOR LOOKING!
